Try again….

MercenaryD | January 31, 2009

Try again and again, well there is only so much to patience one can have.

You can tell from this first line that I’m still having a hard time with the furnace. I got it to run again for about 30 seconds before it quit. Ok, this is what I did this time.

Time to do some more furnace work

Did I ever mention that I hate the cold! I want it to be May….

I was sitting too long

MercenaryD | January 27, 2009

So I got up, to walk around… sounds like a really bad start to a kids book here doesn’t it. But it was the description of what lead me to the window. After typing and thinking for hours, ok only two and a half hours, my but started to go numb and I got up to stretch. While starring out the window I saw what looked like a clump of snow in the tree across the road, after a second look more careful look I saw that it was a hawk. So I grabbed the camera.

Its a good thing that I have a backup

I said in the last post that I was working on the furnace in my work trailer. This is the beast. Of course right now I feel like a bit of an ass. For the last week I have been trying to find the settings for the electrodes. Then when I was asked for [...]

Eagle on a cold evening

MercenaryD | January 23, 2009

Yesterday I had to go out to my work trailer, that I currently rent out to my dad, to work on the furnace you can read about the problems I’m having with it here if you so choose to. So I won’t go into a rant about that today.

But instead I wanted to show you what I found on the side of the road,

Something always going wrong…

MercenaryD | January 18, 2009

The other day I was complaining that the old house that I live in always seemed to be breaking in the winter. Sometimes its the new stuff that is breaking down and the old that is still good, or would be if we hadn’t replaced it.
I ran into this yesterday when the “new” fuel tanks [...]

100 years old and something wrong

MercenaryD | January 10, 2009

I’m not a hundred but the house I live in is. And every year there is something that goes, well how we should say wrong. One has to expect it… But why does it always have to be in the winter? In the snowstorms?
This time it wasn’t so bad, we were able to take care [...]

I want chickens

MercenaryD | January 8, 2009

I grew up on a farm, my grandparents raised chickens for food — both meat and eggs. I like fresh eggs the best not the mention how great they are for a yard or garden in eating pests and fertilizing. And I know from experience that they are no dirtier than any other animal if taken care of.

But unlike the cities in this USA Today article, my little town doesn’t allow you to have any animal that could be considered livestock.

Back in the swing of things…. not really

MercenaryD | January 6, 2009

I’m sure that everyone, like me, is getting their acts together, now that we’re into the first week of the new year. Although around me things seem to be in a bit of a less than cheerful mood, there is this dark cloud hanging over but as with all dark clouds there is a silver lining — they are still moving forward, although some more than others.
